AB InBev India has invested $1.5 billion since 2016 and continues to deploy more than $25 million annually toward capacity expansion, brewery upgrades and faster canning lines. It has also invested around $10 million to localise Corona and Hoegaarden production in India.
State-level policy reforms are becoming a key investment driver. Maharashtra and Karnataka have emerged as favourable markets, while the company has restarted its Rajasthan brewery after earlier policy and taxation challenges.
Premiumisation remains the major growth opportunity. AB InBev holds around 60% of India's premium and super-premium beer segment, with brands such as Budweiser, Corona and Hoegaarden. The company expects premium and super-premium products to become an even larger part of its India business.
Affordability and changing consumer preferences are also supporting growth, with AB InBev expanding 330 ml cans and accelerating its shift toward cans, which now account for around 40% of its India volumes, versus roughly 28% for the industry.
