API Holdings, parent of PharmEasy and Thyrocare, has become debt-free after repaying its outstanding ₹1,050 crore term loan, using proceeds from a partial sale of its Thyrocare stake along with internal accruals.
The repayment was funded by selling a 9.9% stake in Thyrocare through its promoter entity Docon Technologies. Following the transaction, Docon continues to hold a 51.02% controlling stake in Thyrocare.
A key benefit of the repayment is the release of the pledge on the remaining Thyrocare shares, leaving API Holdings with an unencumbered controlling stake and greater financial flexibility.
The move strengthens API Holdings' balance sheet and reduces financial leverage, giving the group greater flexibility to invest in PharmEasy and other businesses while focusing on sustainable growth. Management said its businesses are approaching profitability, shifting the focus toward long-term value creation.
