Competition Commission approves Tata Capital Merger plan

The Competition Commission of India(CCI), a fair trade regulator, approved the merger of two Tata Capital Ltd subsidiary companies, a non-deposit-accepting core investment company.

Justification

• Subsidiaries are namely Tata Cleantech Capital & Tata Capital Financial Services Ltd (TCFSL) both being RBI registered non-deposit accepting NBFCs.

•  Deals beyond a certain threshold require approval from the regulator, which keeps a tab on unfair business practices in the marketplace.
