INKEL and two green-energy subsidiaries have approached KSERC against KSEB’s decision to cap renewable-power evacuation through a 33kV feeder at 14.4 MVA, impacting projects in Palakkad and Malappuram.
The dispute affects a 36 MW solar-wind hybrid project at Vadakarapathy and a 23.2 MWp group-captive solar project at INKEL’s Malappuram industrial park. INKEL argues that the 14.4 MVA ceiling applies to consumer loads and should not automatically restrict power injected by generating projects.
KSEB has indicated that evacuation above the limit could require parallel 33kV feeders or a 110kV connection. INKEL has argued that moving to 110kV would increase project costs and could affect the viability of the solar project.
KSERC is seeking additional technical and project details before resolving the matter, including project timelines, costs, injection points and execution status. The regulator has also asked KSEB officials to provide detailed technical justification for the connectivity restrictions.
