Nayara Energy – Ships 1.2 Lakh Tonnes of Petrol to Russia in August

Expert Analysis:

• Nayara Energy supplied around 1.2 lakh tonnes of petrol to Russia in August, worth approximately €78 million, accounting for about 94% of Russia’s petrol imports during the month.

• The shipments came from Nayara’s Vadinar refinery, which sourced 100% of its crude from Russia during January–August 2026, compared with 81% during 2025.

• Russia imported a record 1.72 lakh tonnes of petroleum products in August, as disruptions to its domestic refining capacity increased the need for imported fuel. India accounted for around 70% of Russia’s total product imports.

• Rosneft, which owns 49.13% of Nayara Energy, was the buyer of the gasoline, creating a notable integrated trade flow where Russian crude is processed in India and refined fuel is shipped back to Russia.
