Philips India is positioning the country as a key growth and innovation hub, supported by rising healthcare infrastructure spending, AI adoption and an expanding R&D ecosystem. The company has invested ₹1,750 crore in India over the past 4–5 years across manufacturing, innovation and R&D.
India has become strategically important to Philips globally, with around 8,500 employees and roughly 12.5% of its global workforce based in the country. The Bengaluru innovation hub contributes software to a significant portion of Philips' global medical equipment portfolio.
Growing investment in district hospitals and primary healthcare centres is expected to create opportunities across Philips' diagnostic imaging, cardiac care, connected care and personal health businesses. The company also sees potential in sleep and respiratory care as awareness increases.
AI is emerging as a major growth driver, with 71% of Indian clinicians surveyed by Philips saying AI enables them to see around 10 additional patients per week. However, concerns around AI governance, training and accuracy remain important adoption challenges.
