Sterlite Electric has entered into a joint venture with Spain-based RDT Lumiker to manufacture advanced cable monitoring systems, targeting the growing need for intelligent power transmission infrastructure.
The collaboration is aimed at addressing surging electricity demand driven by AI, data centres, and energy-intensive industries, which are pushing utilities to adopt digitally enabled, resilient grid solutions.
The smart cable systems will provide real-time monitoring and analytics, helping utilities improve fault detection, operational efficiency, and network reliability, aligning with the global shift toward smart grids and predictive maintenance.
Management indicated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate digital intelligence into transmission networks, positioning Sterlite Electric as a provider of value-added, technology-driven infrastructure solutions rather than just hardware.
