Zepto has postponed its IPO by 2–3 quarters, with CEO Aadit Palicha informing employees that the company will pursue a listing only after improving its financial metrics and securing a valuation that better reflects its business.
The decision follows weaker-than-expected valuation feedback from institutional investors, with reported anchor-book indications in the $2.5–3 billion range, significantly below the company's previous private valuation of $7 billion.
Instead of proceeding with the IPO immediately, Zepto is expected to raise over ₹1,000 crore from existing investors, providing growth capital while delaying its public market debut.
Management has clarified that the IPO plans remain intact, and the company does not need to refile its DRHP immediately, requiring only updated financial statements before listing if it remains within the regulatory timeline.
The additional time will allow Zepto to further improve profitability, unit economics, and operating performance, with the objective of achieving a stronger valuation and a more successful listing.
